Bahrain International Airport

Established in 1927 as the first airport in the Arabian Gulf, Bahrain International Airport (BIA) has been a significant aviation hub in the region. Boasting a strategic location in the heart of the Gulf and over 60 years of industry-related experience, BIA has served as an ideal gateway linking East and West.

As part of the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications’ objective to transform the existing terminal into a world-class facility in line with the Kingdom’s long-term economic vision and its reputation as a leading financial, cultural and aviation centre in the Middle East, the Ministry in coordination with BAC have embarked on an Airport Modernization Program (AMP) to elevate BIA’s infrastructure, handling capacity and service offerings in an effort to improve passenger travel experience and Increase the airport capacity to 14 million passengers a year.

The opening of the new Bahrain International Airport during the first quarter of 2021, equipped with state-of-the-art technologies delivering the highest standard of service and luxury. This is a strong statement done by the government as part of their continuous commitment to encourage tourism in the country.

Bahrain International Airport is the international airport of Bahrain, located in Muharraq, an island about 7 km northeast of the capital Manama.  Gulf Air, Bahrain's national carrier, has moved its entire operations for inbound and outbound flights to the new Bahrain International Airport.
