Muara Jambi Temple

Archaeological Site Muaro Jambi Temple is the largest Buddhist temple complex in the Southeast Asia. Muaro Jambi temple complex covers an area of 12 km2, along the side of Batanghari River which is most probably a relic of the Kingdom of Srivijaya and the Malay Kingdom. There are eight main temples in the complex. The temple complex is estimated were built around the 14th century. Muaro Jambi Temple is the largest and most well-preserved temple complex on the island of Sumatra. And since 2009 the Muaro Jambi Temple has been nominated to UNESCO to become a World Heritage Site.
