L'ÉTAPE MELAKA by Tour De France - A Cycling Journey Through History

On May 5th, 2024, Melaka witnessed an exhilarating celebration of cycling and heritage at L'ÉTAPE MELAKA by Tour De France. Cyclists from near and far gathered to explore the enchanting beauty of this historic city on two wheels.

The Flag Off ceremony that was officiated by the EXCO of the state Youth, Sports and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO), YB Tuan P.Shanmugam A/L Pitchay marks the starting of 3,358 cyclists cycling through three different routes, categorised as ‘Elite Wave’ (140km), 'The Race' (140km) dan 'The Ride' (70km).

For many participants, L'ÉTAPE MELAKA was not just a cycling event, but a chance to embark on a memorable adventure. Exploring Melaka's hidden gems and scenic landscapes from the saddle offered a unique perspective on this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Participants embarked on a thrilling journey through Melaka's rich history, pedalling past iconic landmarks, colonial architecture, and vibrant cultural sites. From the bustling streets of Jonker Walk to the serene banks of the Melaka River, every pedal stroke was a step back in time.

As the sun set on L'ÉTAPE MELAKA 2024, participants departed with cherished memories and a newfound appreciation for the beauty of Melaka. While this year's event may have come to a close, the spirit of cycling and exploration continues to thrive.
