Besakih Temple on the slopes of Gunung Agung is over a thousand years old and is regarded as the Mother Temple of Bali. Nominated as a World Heritage Site, it is the biggest and holiest of all Balinese temples. In the main courtyard, wrapped in cloth and decorated with flower offerings, are the Trinity shrines dedicated to Shiva, Brahma and Wishnu.
